Motor Cars LA is delighted to be able to offer for sale one of the best 1969 Cougar XR-7 Convertibles which has come to market in recent history.

This car came equipped from the factory with a 351 cubic inch, 2V engine with an FMX transmission and 9-inch rear end. Options included power steering, power disc brakes, air conditioning, power windows and AM-FM stereo radio.

The original factory colors were a red exterior and two tone red and white interior. The XR7 package included leather upholstery, full instrumentation, console and upgraded trim.

The car was purchased from the original owner with the original owner’s manual in the console and original tag in the trunk. It received a no-expense spared, full restoration by the renowned Ken’s Cougars in Edmond, Oklahoma, which included a full rebuild of the engine, transmission and rear end. The suspension and steering were rebuilt as well as new brakes installed, together with a new fuel tank, sending unit and other items, as needed.

New Styled Steel Wheels with BF Goodrich Radial Tires were also installed. The bumpers were rechromed and new bright work was added. The car was repainted with the correct factory color and two-tone interior with new leather upholstery, carpet and weather-stripping. A new convertible top was installed with a new top boot in the trunk.

The engine was upgraded with an Edelbrock aluminum intake with Holley 600 cfm carburetor and Pertronix ignition, wires and coil. The rebuild of the engine included adding hardened valve seats to allow the use of unleaded fuel. The rear end was upgraded to 3:50 gears with traction lock.

The radio was upgraded to a Custom Auto Sound AM/FM with cassette and a trunk mounted six-disc CD changer.

Since the restoration, the car has been driven approximately 3,500 miles.
