This 1997 Land Rover Defender 90 is a North American Specification (NAS) soft-top example that was acquired from the original owner by the second owner in March 2017.

This vehicle represents the final year of production for the USA and is powered by a 4.0-liter V8 backed by a 4-speed automatic transmission.  This beautifully preserved example has covered just 36,260 miles and is presented in completely stock form and is supplied with a clean CARFAX Report and California Title. 

Notable features include a stock “safari cage,” side steps, and a locking fuel filler cap. All paintwork is original with no touch-ups and Aluminum sheet metal shows typical waviness around spot welds and door handles.  Supplied on the original Defender 90 16″ wheels (which wear original locking lug nuts) and clean paint with no visible curb rash.  Keeping with the originality of this superbly maintained and presented example are BF Goodrich All Terrain tires that are said to be original and include a matching rear-mounted spare.

Power for 1997 models was from an improved 4.0-liter aluminum V8 that was factory rated at 182 horsepower and 233 lb-ft of torque. An electronically-operated 4-speed ZF automatic was the only transmission option for 1997.  The full-time 4×4 driveline features a two-speed transfer case with a lockable center differential. Four-wheel disc brakes are also equipped. 

Service records are complete from the day of purchase and literature also includes a dealer brochure, soft top installation guide, and demonstration video. The truck comes with a car cover and tow kit in a canvas bag along with a bottle jack, all original keys, original tools, and window storage bags.
